Well, that week's over. Thank god. And apparently the kids saved the weirdest stuff for today.

Like the kid who sneezed, and then looked up at me -- he had this ginormous booger mass flowing out of his nose, down his upper lip, across his mouth, before stopping at the edge of his chin; I believe he also had quite a bit on hs hands. He just kinda sat there staring at me, meaning I had to go get him tissues. It took four tissues for him to clean up his snot mess, which I had to then wrap in another tissue in order to throw it out for him.

And then there was the Wahoo Word Lab, which has cards with word beginnings and word endings on them. The students are given word ending cards, and then the teacher shows them a word beginning, and they have to figure out if the beginning and ending could go together to form a word. Example: The child has an "-at" card, and the teacher shows a "c-" card. This forms "cat." And so on.

For some reason, the "-it" card kept popping up. Fortunately, the "sh-" card did not accompany it (although I was later informed that someone said "Shit" in class yesterday), but one third-grader looked at her "-it" card, verbally going through every combination she could think of, which resulted in her loudly yelling "TIT!"

The second time the "-it" card popped up, it was with a group of second graders. The game was just beginning, and one girl had the "-it" card. The teacher pulled the top card, and started using it for practice, putting it by the word endings to see if a word was formed. She stopped before she reached the "-it" card, however, which was probably a good thing, since the card she was holding was "cl-" and after having "TIT!" exclaimed by a third grader, we really didn't need a second grader yelling "CLIT!"

Finally, today I apparently became a Bergstrom.Read more... )
